The hook style avails itself to tying caddisfly patterns, such as Klinkhammer style emergers, freshwater shrimps, and Gammarus/scud patterns. Mustad Heritage series fly hooks feature a gun-metal matte finish in TitanX, a 50% more rust-resistant coating than those used on prior Mustad fly hooks. TitanX is said to produce a smoother finish to aid hook setting.
