Let's get the famous story out of the way first. Everyone 'knows' that ballpoints didn't work in space, without gravity, so the Americans spent millions of dollars to develop a special pressurised ballpoint that did work in space. The Russians just used a pencil. Well, not really. The Americans and Russians both used pencils. Paul Fisher, an inventer and pen maker, developed the pressurised refill, creating the 'Space Pen'.

A nice heavy and chunky pencil for sketching and layout work. Clutch mechanism advances the thick 5.6mm lead. Each barrel is made from solid metal as per the finish. The brass and copper barrels are solid tubes of machined, polished and uncoated metal whilst the aluminium model has a protective anodised finish. The brass and copper versions will develop a unique patina over time. The Graphic pencil is approx. 15mm in diameter and 116mm long; all models weigh approx. 72g.
